Does anybody know how it is legal for the city/county to prohibit firearms from the coleman young building? Or is it legal at all?

1. Is it a publicly owned building?
2. If answer to #1 is yes, does it house a court?

It is operated by the Detroit-Wayne Joint Building Authority which was created in 1948 by the Michigan Legislature.[2] The building contains a library, a courthouse, and the city hall.

There is a separate security entrance for the court area of the building and another security entrance for the municipal offices. Firearms are prohibited in both. I asked the guy going through my $#|t and asked why they are searching me and he said "man the mayors office is in this building you cant have a weapon in here."

If the Court has ordered the whole building to be weapons free, you're probably screwed.

They could always claim MCL 123.1102 doesn't apply because MCL 123.1101 doesn't list "authorities". See the Lansing CADL thread (here or OCDO) for that angle.

I looked into it a few years back and they claim the court makes the entire building off limits. I do not go there unless there are no other options.
