Doctors Vs. Guns
« on: March 03, 2011, 11:09:11 AM »
Maybe some people have already saw this...  but apparently, there is a lot of truth to the e-mail....

Doctors

  (A)  The number of physicians in
  the  U.S.   is  700,000.

  (B) Accidental deaths caused
by Physicians per year are  120,000.

  (C) Accidental deaths per
  physician is 0.171

Statistics courtesy of  U.S. Dept of Health and  Human Services.

  Now think about this:

Guns

  (A)  The number of gun owners in the  U.S. is 80,000,000..

(Yes, that's 80 million)

(B) The number of accidental gun deaths per year, all age groups, is 1,500.

(C)  The number of accidental deaths per gun owner is .0000188

  Statistics courtesy of FBI

So,  statistically, doctors are approximately 9,000 times
  more dangerous than gun owners.

I looked up some stuff after the fact...

Not really a fair comparison, but interesting none-the-less....

I just can't wrap my mind around people that are SOOOOOOOOOO in fear of guns....  people do the single most dangerous thing they can do EVERY DAY with ZERO SECOND THOUGHT....    drive your car.

Whatta ya think?

I've seen this before, but love it!

I've also heard that: 42.7% of all statistics are made up on the spot, five out of four people have trouble with fractions, and statistics means never having to say you're certain.

Hmmmm---appts coming up:
Cardiologist
Retinal specialist
Primary care doc
Dermatologist
Stress test
And---I have to drive to each one (danger-danger)

Thinking maybe I should cancel all and just go to the range!

Had an ENT specialist ask me not to carry in his office because he had a partner a few years ago get shot by a patient.   :o

Told him I didn't feel safe not carrying in his office with that bit o' info and haven't been back since.  I love the emotionally based, logic free conclusions some people come to.

No kidding... so you're telling me that someone came in here shooting the place up, and you DON'T want me to carry?   That logic confuses me.
