OC yesterday running errands. was at Lowe's in plumbing and while looking for what i needed a young male employee (about 18 spiky hair) walking by the aisle stopped and looked at me and said "oh.cool"..i said "huh?" he pointed to his hip. i said "oh yeah. ahhhh thanks". he said "you don't ever see that but it's cool dude". i of course said "you should see it everywhere but you don't". he said "you're right. i think it's cool". there is hope for the future.

Why did you have to "make sure" that you received help?

OC'd all the way from Casco (near Chesterfield) up to Munising Friday, Sat/Sun at the cabin with friends, and on the way home today.  No one said anything or even noticed (not that I expected them to in the UP,but even with gas stops/etc, no one said anything.

Perfect OC experience!

OCed last Sat 4/16 at the Lenawee county fairgrounds during their home/builders show. After paying  while walking up to the first building I heard a male yelling "HEY.... HEY.... HEY" after I realize he is yelling in my directioin I turn to see security sitting in his tuck, he then says to pull my shirt down because I was showing. I approached him and we spoke while I informed him OC is legal and handed him legal update 86 to look over on his own time. After we get inside we go past 4 or 5 vendors with no issues then it happens we get hooked into two people talking about their product both female. After talking about five minutes one looks over in mid conversation and says "you're not going to shoot me are you?" I break conversation with the other salesperson give her a firm "no" and continue talking with the other.

A few more booths go by and then a guy asks about it, he was full of questions and stated that he would soon be taking a cpl class and did not know about OC. We spoke a good 15-25 minutes on OC & CC I handed him a tri-fold and legal update so he had information he could use before taking cpl class. At this time the security guard walks by and does not give a second look or skip a beat.

Towards the last vendors another gentle man slowly approaches me and says something as such "I'm going to ask you quietly what you're carrying" then says I must be doing the NEW open carry thing, I informed him that it's not so much new as it is becoming more popular. Turns out he CCs. We spoke about 20 minutes about gun shows and carrying on the way out I informed him of MOC and gave out a tri-fold.

I would say a great day of OC at an event that vendors try to sucker you into buying their items I got trapped in one sales speech and informed three others of open carry.

First time tonight at The Birch Run McDonalds.  Cashier told me "
That's the first time I have ever seen that".  I said, I have a secret for you, this is the first time for me as well.  She went on to say that she is considering taking a CPL course.  Feels great to break the ice.  Thanks MOC.

But you couldn't just get assistance. You had to "make sure" to get assistance? Is there some underlying agenda in "making sure" you get assistance that simply obtaining assistance couldn't achieve?

As you were.

OC around downtown Holland today, with the GF no issues.

BP on Chicago Drive.
Herrick Library downtown (couple hours) -- no one said anything.  Even in the children's section.  One dude who looked like he was from the hood nodded, I nodded back and went about my business.
Various shops on 8th street including an new home theater shop, a deli across from JP's (very good), Model Drugstore, The Outpost.

Had some personal business to take care with the Chief of police in Saint Helen today. My wife and I both Open Carried while there. We were there for at least an Hour. (He knows that open carry is legal.) Nothing was said by him or his secretary. As it should be! A great day to OC!

I open carried (Beretta) on my motorcycle last night. I went to Friday night prayer (6pm) at my church in Flint. It's Abundant Life Ministry on Pierson and Clio intersection. I told one of the ladies that I did not want to wear it into church. I did not want to be a spectacle. She said that it was ok, if i had a license. I told her that i would feel better if i could lock it in her car until after service. That's what happened.

OC'd at Lowe's...    got helped by a couple of staff members...  one to point me in the direction of what I was looking to buy...  the other to help me select what I needed..   I don't believe either noticed my sidearm...       2 employees came by with one of the fork trucks and a younger guy pointed and said "alright, I see you support OC"...   I didn't exactly like him "exposing" me..  but everything was still all good.  The guy helping me went and got a cart for me to put the large item into, I went to the front, paid, all good.  No looks, no stares, nuttin except the one guy who thought it was cool I was OCing.  Walked by a lots of people and no one noticed... though when walking by a couple of families with younger kids, I tried to keep strong side away from them just to be respectful of the children.

Also, earlier in the day I had went into a local gun shop and my dad had been in there a couple of days before.  Apparently they were discussing me OCing..   gun shop owner said he knows a guy who got 2 cops to draw guns at him in Menard's...  they apparently didn't arrest him, but detained him for a period, and as I said had drawn on him.   Apparently this was 1-1.5 years ago.  I showed him MSP update 86 and the LPD memo.  He said he still didn't think it was a good idea, but he sees how people would want to do combos of OC and CC...

carry on!

Just to verify, you guys are OCing with a CPL, correct?  Otherwise, open carry in a kroger would be a no-no since they sell booze, right?

My understanding of the statute is that liquor only plays a part if it is their main sales item and in a gas station or a grocery store that is not the issues.  A grocery stores main sales in oddly enough groceries and at a gas station it is; yep you guessed it, gasoline.  The statute applies mainly to bars; who’s main sales is by the glass and party stores.

I could be wrong; but, I have discussed this with some local POs here in the D and they agree.

Everything I have heard is that if  you have no CPL you shouldn't be OCing in places like meijer..    actually you shouldn't even have a gun on their premises... as in, leaving your piece in the car in the lot...   My understanding is that even TRANSPORTING (or possession) on the premises of a place that sells booze is illegal.

I thought the 50% alcohol sales was more about CC vs. OC...

First all of you discussing LL need to go read some more as none of you have it right.

Second there is only one legal way for a person without a cpl to carry in or on the premises permission from the owner or other authorized person (and get it in writing)(including the parking lot and or other property) of a LL holding business whether they are currently selling or not.

Third there is no 50% rule or law... the MCL says "the majority of their income from the sale of booz" and only applies to places where it is sold by the glass. NOTE this only applies to people with a cpl and who are carrying concealed.

Read and learn fellows as to not understand this section is to likely visit the grey bar hotel!

Yeah, that's right, they could sell 45% beer, 25%food and 30% merch....   they don't sell more thamn 50% beer, but i'ts still the majorituy of their sales..   by the glass..

I don't know that part of the law because it doesn't apply to me and I would not carry there regardless..   the other part I was right about though.  No CPL means no guns (yes written permission exceptiON).
