oc today for hours at milford memories. thousands of people, families, kids, tents, crafts, food, art etc. walked it front to back, thru the park and in some stores. no problems no issues no negative comments. positive comments from civil war re-enacters. they were holding muskets. guess we are like minded. also got the eye contact, head nod "yeah we see you" from a couple of police officers but that was it. saw a couple people take pics of it.
other festivals i've been to the police haven't said anything either but made it a point to walk by, bike by, golf cart by me regularly to let me know they know they saw me. don't know if that is a tactic to chase me off or reassure the public that they are aware and watching me or what but i don't do anything different than if i were cc or unarmed. don't even get that anymore. i think we are at a point of acceptance that we want. it only takes another idiot like the one that shot the arizona representative to set us back a few years. igenerally go to these things by myself so the lone gunman appearance may be there but anybody that has met me will tell you my appearance and demeanor is pretty nice, approachable and congenial. this has fooled some officers who try to trick me into believing i am committing some offense or start lying to me. then they get to meet my lawyer mode. turns on like a light switch.
anyway good day representing OC.

Last night, Wed august 10, @ about 11:30

Unfortunately, I was someplace I was unable to open carry my weapon, so I left it in the car.

When I got done I headed next door to the Walmart to raid the candy Isle, as the wife told me not to come home without masses of chocolate.

I parked my car, but I was so tired, i decided not to put on my holster but just to put the gun in my back pocket.  It really does not fit in the pocket, but having it with me is better than leaving it in the car, it does me no good sitting in the glove box. with it tucked in my back pocket, i walked towards the door of Walmart.

I noticed a couple,  a very short skinny Male and a very tall large Female, standing by the entrance that is marked "Pharmacy".  Trying to mind my own business I made a mental note and continued on my way to the door, thinking to myself, gee they look like Mutt and Jeff.

As I was in earshot the female, who was on a cell phone said very loudly "do you think the buses run this late to Walmart"  For a second I though she may have been talking to me so I glanced over at them and noticed she was on the cell phone looking at the male.  Since they seemed not to be talking to me, I just proceed inside the store.

I walked through the produce section looking for some Juice and then headed over towards the back of the store, where I engaged a store employee for directions to the candy isle.

I found the location given me and began the search for the perfect pack of chocolate for my bride when I heard "I don't know what I want"  I turned my head and see Mutt and Jeff standing behind me.  I should have kept my mouth shut and minded my own business but I blurted out something like "keep looking you find something that tickles your fancy"  I no sooner got that out of my mouth when the female, said in very demanding tone to me "what did you say?", I repeated it and she make a huff sound. Since I already had my pogey bait, and the fact she kinda was rude, I headed for the checkout.

As I got to the checkout and put my stuff on the counter, guess who was standing in back of me, yep you got it:  Mutt and Jeff.

Now I was getting a bit concerned.

As the cashier was ringing up my stuff, i positioned myself so that when i lifted my shirt my gun would be in their view. With the cart between them and me, I  lifted up my shirt to pull out my wallet and made damn sure they they had a clear view of my 40 Cal  sticking out of my back pocket.  as I put my wallet back in, i again made sure they were able to see it.  Since its silver in color, its hard to miss.

I paid for my stuff and left the store, less then 2 second behind me strolled Mutt and Jeff.

As I turned towards them, now watching their every move,  they headed towards a car and got in, pulled out and drove off.

Now my after though is this:  Why would she be so concerned if buses run by Walmart that late at nite if they had a car with them:

I think I was a robbery target and the site of my gun may have just save me from a bump on the head and even a dirt nap.

This is one time I now wish that I was OCing rather the CC my gun, but I am glad I decided at the last minute to at least bring it in with me, I just wish I was not so lazy that I chose CC instead of OC.
why couldn't you OC in walmart??? you have CPL. haven't seen you since the hoedown onnie. hope to catch you at a picnic or two.

You are right I could have

I was too LAZY

I was tired, just left next door where I had been on the floor most of the night crawling about fixing stuff and I can not wear my gun while i work, one, they wont allow it, and two its too hard on my hip trying to work on my side with the gun so as I always do in these cases i leave it in the car

I was dirty, tired and exhausted and was just PLAIN LAZY

thought it would be, as it was a quick run in and run out,

I had actually walked half way to the door when i turned back and went to get my gun

and instead of putting on my serpa which was sitting in the glove box with my gun, i just stuck my gun in my pocket

had nothing to do with anything except i was just too tired and lazy t hat night

next time it will be oh my hip

Boy sometimes dreams are so vivid and weird!!!
last night I dreamed I moved my family back to Kalifornia where I had a little know clause in my contract with the Marines re-enacted and I was back stationed at Camp Pendleton.

as the wife and I were standing in line for dinner, I looked down and noticed I was OCing, nothing to get alarmed about EXCEPT I knew my gun was loaded and one in the chamber

quickly I scanned the area for a "safe" place and to ensure no cops were around, then I ran across the street behind the goat pens (don't ask) and in the woods and unloaded my weapon

I walked calmly back to the line where the wife was still standing, grabbed her and we quickly moved out of Kalifornia to some place I am sure is more Gun Friendly

before last night I have had 2 sets of nightmares in my life that reoccurred that have physically shaken me and now this is the third one

they are

1. I am back in the jungle after my chopper crashed being chased by VC

2. I remarried my first wife again

and now:

3. I moved to Kalifornia!

Ill take 1 and 2 anytime! Please don't let me dream about moving to Kalifornia again, my heart wont take it!

Hello oc world, today I decided to get myself an audio recorder and boy I’m glad I did. First the day started with me ocing to radio shack for a recorder that cost $41 and a mic that cost 25. When I went to pay I noticed that the prices were missed tagged for 19 and 18. “Winning” they gave me the items for that price.
Now on to Emagine theater in canton.  As I entered the theater I scanned for a sign that said it is Pfz/ no weapons allowed.  I did not see any of them. I was able to by my ticket and make my way to the concession stand before a manager approached me. As he approached me he told me I was breaking the law, being that the theater seats more than 2500 people. I explained to him that it was not against the law to Oc w/Cpl. He stated that he was unsure of the law so I handed him a tri fold. He looked it over before saying he would have to call the police to verify the information I gave him was correct. I then asked him if he wanted me to leave because he was concerned that I was breaking the law or because it was private property. He said because he thinks I’m breaking the law. I ensured him I was not breaking the law but if he wanted me to leave because of his private property rules I could not stop him.  He then said well it’s because of private property rules. He refunded my money and told me to call his dm to get this handled the correct way: this is because I informed him  that there must  be a weapons free sign post at the front entrance of the movie’s. As I left I was stopped by another manager who said that I was wrong and to look at the law, he looked up mcl28.425o I explained to him that Mcl 28.425o and Mcl 750.234d sec 2-c works together. He said ok and returned back inside.

All and all it went ok. I’m glad I was able to leave without the police being called.

I need help loading the audio it’s too staticy is there a program that can extract just the talking.

Crazy busy few days.  Been getting ready for the big move this weekend and trying to find a job in Lansing.  Whew!

Anyways.  OC'd at Lowe's, Wixom Library and Kroger quite a few times.  No issues.

OCed in Dollar Daze in Owosso today. The clerk asked what caliber I was carrying. We talked for a few and I informed him that he does not need a CPL to oc... I gave him a tri-fold. Went into Speedway north of Owosso and the clerk there asked if I was a cop... No... We talked for a couple of minutes. I informed him about oc and gave him a tri-fold as well... Today was a good day to oc in Owosso!!

Don't do it. It may impede me and others from going in there while OC'ing. Just because you got tossed doesn't mean everyone will and the precedent can be set in our favor.

Finally got my tri-folds a few days ago and I was able to put one to good use today at my local 7-11.  Had one of the tellers ask me if I was a cop or just carrying.  I responded that I was just carrying.  She stated that as soon as she was 21, she was going to carry (I'm guessing she ment concealed) as she attends LCC etc.  I didn't have time today to get into an in-depth discussion with her (yes I realize I could have told her that she doesn't need to be 21 to carry open and that I could have warned her to check out the school rules as she was a student...but I was in a hurry).

Anyways, I gave her a tri-fold and she gratefully took it.  As I was pulling out of the parking lot, I saw her and another employee very intently checking out the tri-fold.  At the very least there will be a couple of more informed citizens out there!

Been OC'ing basically everywhere I go (except work) the past few days. Wal Mart, Meijer, Kroger, Kroger Gas station, Hollywood Market, Home Depot, Office Max... No Issues, no problems.. One person asked me about it at Hollywood and I forgot I had a tri-fold on me... did a quick pass in the store to give him one and he was gone.. missed my opportunity.

Anyways... it has been going great

Open carried my stainless Beretta 9mm on my Harley while cruising Saginaw street during the Back to the Bricks event. Folks were lined up and down the street from Grand Blanc to downtown Flint. I'm telling you, you don't have to have a classic car to get people to stare at you. The part I want to mention is that while gassing up at a station on Atherton and Saginaw, there were 3 Leo's parked in a driveway watching the going's on. I knew I'd be going by them on their side of the street. (getting nervous) I was watching them and the cop in the middle noticed my rosco and bumped the cop next to him and pointed me out. I saw this gesture and purposely nodded to him as I passed on by. Get this, nothing happened! Will I ever get to use my voice recorder?

Be careful what you ask for Joe. :o

OT - OCed in the usual fashion all around various locations all quiet on the TaylorTuckey (area joke - town is known as a hillbilly refuge) front as it should be.

So far today I've OCed at Wood Bros. Automotive for an oil change, Southside Sportsman club to shoot the Gun of the Month, and my Credit Union to withdraw some money. No problems anywhere. I did have a nice conversation about OC with a guy at the gun store. I gave him a tri-fold and my email address in case he had any questions. MI gun laws are so confusing and F'd up, it's difficult to get people to understand that OC has separate laws regulating it and that the concealed carry laws they learned about in their class only apply to concealed carry.

Later the same day....

I was in Kalamazoo and OCed at Burlington Coat Factory, Sears, and JCPenny in the mall. I entered each store through their own entrance. Then later I OCed at Walmart on Shaver Rd. and back in Battle Creek, Meijer on Columbia.

No problems but I did have a short conversation with an older gentleman in Penny's.

Him: Is it open carry day? I didn't get the memo.
Me: Well, it is for me at least.
Him: How's that work out for you?
Me: Fine. I've never had a problem. The only people that ever bring it up are people who are curious about how it's legal.
Him: Oh I know it's legal. I have license and carry concealed.
Me: I do too. I normally just carry however is the most convenient and comfortable for me. In the winter it's normally concealed and if it's really hot and I don't want to wear a tucked in shirt it's concealed, but otherwise I carry open. I just find it a lot more comfortable.
Him: I've been thinking about it but don't want to get hassled.
Me: I can't say it doesn't happen but in my experience and the experiences of others on the web it's pretty rare. You should check out our websites....

Then we got off on the subject of work and I found out that I work with a friend of his and we actually have some mutual friends...small world.

Two OC convos in one day.  I think that's a record for me.
