Recent OCs-

Russ' Restaurant Cutlerville
Crackerbarrel Grandville (Is that real?!?)
Appleby's Hastings (server suddenly felt the need to pick up something right next to my strong side!)
Arnie's Wyoming

(Seems like we eat out a lot....) ;D

Carry to eat... Eat to carry.

MOC has strict weight requirements. Have you seen some of the party pictures?

To keep on topic:
I have been carrying quite a lot in medical environments and bars lately. Nobody says a word.

Hows that working out in bars?  Are you going during peak bar hours, or during the day?  I was at a bar last week and was wondering how that would go over/

Both.

A couple months ago I was at a biker bar. It was packed. Someone whined to the manager. He said he didn't think I was legal. I explained the rules. Asked if he wanted me to leave several times during the conversation. Each time he said no. I thought it was funny because there were numerous 1% members there that I knew were carrying concealed. Probably even unlawful also. I guessed it was no doubt a case of calibre envy.

Several of the bars have had bouncers too that have seen it and didn't mention it.

Had an MRI at Beaumont Hospital last week. No comments at all.

Dentist today.

Only place I have ever been tossed from was American Jewelry and Pawn. And that was because I wouldn't cover up. Les would've let me stay if I would have.

Just had an interesting event- our park is posted 'No Soliciting' at both access points. Only way to miss it would be to climb a fence.

Had a couple of scam artists from something called Direct Energy soliciting within the park. Stopped them, and they claimed that they had a permit from the park. Marched them down to the office, but no one was there, so called the sheriff to make a report, so we have a record that they were notified that they were trespassing. We have been instructed by park management to report any solicitors, so we qualify as 'agents', IMHO. Next time, arrests!

Now the interesting part. We were outside as the deputy rolled up. As it was dark, and he would not likely see my OC weapon, as I held my hands out to the side & slightly up, I advised him I was carrying (as did Steel Magnolia). He said, OK, no problem. Was completely relaxed about it, and even said 'I wish there were more like you'.

Good to meet one of Kent County's finest!

There isn't a probably about it. Unless the 1%ers who were concealing owned the bar or were hired by the bar for security, I am not aware of any other exception for CC in a 28.425o PFZ.

What I meant was that they probably couldn't lawfully even posses a firearm. Let alone have it in the bar.

Just do it. That's all there is to it. But know what you're doing first. I carry Mexican almost exclusively. Except when I am in a restricted environment where strict open carry is necessary. I have a belt slide holster for those instances.

I wasn't asked to leave. I offered several times. The manager declined my offer and said to stay. The patrons at a nearby table came to verify that I was lawful and to ask questions.

Had two OC situations today. While at work took a customers food order and had a sweat shirt on that said ARMY on it, the female tried to call me a liar and tell me I wasnt in the ARMY(I am National Guard). Stopped once I showed her my Military ID. I had gotten off work and changed into my everyday clothes, no more work uniform, and so throwing trash from my truck into the trash bins at the gas pump. Her and her teen posse  were leaving the store and getting into there vehicle. I had my weapon on my hip and two mags on the other side all in holsters they were backing out of the parking space and stopped when I walked right by them and she rolled down the window and yelled "HEY, HE HAS A GUN! WHY DOES HE HAVE A F***** GUN?" I just looked and waved as they drove off with a smile on my face.

The second OC situation today was at a Gas Station in Fowlerville. I pulled into the lot and parked in from of the store right behind a FPD squad car. I thought in the back of my mind, Oh sh** this is gonna be fun and the first LEO encounter.  Walked in and right by the front counter were the officer was sitting sipping some coffee talking it up with the Clerk. The officer didn't notice at all just said hi, the clerk on the other hand.
Clerk "Got enough fire power there?"
ME " NOPE, left the other ones at home tonight." As I walked into the Beer Cave. Came out with the beverages for the night. With the weapons all locked up safe and unloaded.
Clerk "That all?"
ME "Sure?"
FPD "Are you a Cop, or something?"
Me "Nope, just a law going citizen, following the law."
The clerk gives me my total and I pay for it and stick around to talk with him like I usually do cuz he is a good gun friendly guy, just making a little fuss for the hell of it. The officer asked me about the gun, make and model, and cal. Which led to a conversation about guns and cal. And what the department cares and what not over all very good first LEO encounter if only all of them were like that. The officer didnt give a hint at all that he thought I was doing anything illegal, which I wasnt. And yes I have a CPL so I can care at a place the sells beer and what not.

That is a great encounter with LE.  Seemed like a nice guy to talk to..glad to see he trusted you and your law abiding-ness to stick around and chat about guns with you.  Lets hope he has a better outlook when it comes to people that carry and people that OC now because of this encounter, I would say you represented us quite well.

Had a meeting with my son's teacher, principal and several other faculty from the school district and his school. No issues at all. We met for over an hour and between introductions and such, I dunno how they missed me OC'ing. Not a word was said.

OC'd at Meijer 54th & Clyde Park Ave tonight, (have CPL) a gentleman who had his wife and son with him, stopped me and said "Please let me say thank you and shake your hand."  "We need more citizens like you who are brave enough to step up and open carry."  I invited him to the OC Luncheon planned for January 28th at 12:30 at Cafe Connection 76th Street and Clyde Park Avenue, South of Grand Rapids near Byron Center.  He said he would be there because he wanted to learn more about open carry and about getting a CPL.

On this same trip to Meijer, a couple stopped me and asked how to get a CPL and is it legal to OC like that?  I referred them to the MOC website and talked with them a little about the requirements for obtaining a CPL and they thanked me and went on their way.
