Total Firearms in Mason and Meijer in South Lansing.

Couldn't shoot because the range at Total Firearms was booked with a CPL class.  :(

Open carried at Tim Horton's (Fenton) and at Vg's and then Home Depot. Later went to Arby's and spotted some of the help looking my way as I sat for lunch. Word got around.

OC’d last night with Shadow Bear for dinner at Cracker Barrel in Grandville, MI.  While we were having our dinner, the man across the aisle from us asked, “Are you exercising your 2nd Amendment right and your right to open carry in Michigan?”   We answered “yes” and had a real nice conversation with him and his wife.  They have a son who is an ex-marine and after serving in both Iraq and Afghanistan is now in college majoring in Criminal Justice.   We talked about MOC and they both seemed real interested.  I gave them information on miopencarry.org and invited them to the luncheon on the 28th at Café Connection.  They said they would try their best to attend.
We left Cracker Barrel and went to Hobby Lobby where Shadow Bear waited in the car while I ran in for a couple of items.  When I approached the checkout, the cashier said, “Girlfriend, you look absolutely fabulous!”  My surprised reply was “Thank you very much.”  The cashier then asked “What kind of gun do you have?”  I told her it was a 1911.  She then asked, “1911?  Isn’t that the gun they carried in the wars?”  I said “yes it is.”  She then said “Very cool.”   There were two other ladies waiting in the check out line and one of them asked, “Why do you carry a gun?”  I explained to her that 1st, I carry because it is my right as a citizen of the United States given by the 2nd Amendment to the constitution and that it is perfectly legal to open carry in the State of Michigan; and 2nd that I have a stalker who has vowed to “take me out” at his first opportunity, so I carry it for my own personal protection as well as the protection of others.  Then both ladies in line asked where is a place close by that offers CPL Classes because they both would like to get their permits.  I directed them to Silver Bullet on Division Ave and to our website, miopencarry.org.  I invited all three ladies to the luncheon on the 28th and they said they would try to attend.  As I was leaving they all three thanked me for being a brave, strong woman and being out there to protect them as well as myself.

It must be because you're a woman.  It is very rare anyone says squat to me about carrying -- positive or negative.

Two of my favorite restaurants .... we are probably at Cracker Barrel once a week and I get to The Cafe Connection a couple of times a month.  I am bummed that we will be out of town on the 28th.  I hope you have a great turn out!   :)

OC'd again this evening, first at Sam's Club in Kentwood, then to Horrocks, then Target and Meijer in Gaines Twp.  The only comment I got was as I was exiting Sam's Club, a gentleman asked me if I was carrying a .22 because it was a small gun, my reply was "no it's a .380, my .45 is at home."  He said "Oh, I just noticed it was a small gun."  His wife turned, gave me a great big smile and a thumbs up.   The other places were completely uneventful...

I've seen you open carry and I wouldn't say anything to you either  :P It may have something to do with the space modulator you carry

On topic OC'd no issues ;)

Open carried with my wife and two buddies in attendance at Bob Evans on Center rd. and the I69 expressway. Stayed there for about four hrs. Breakfast was good! My buds asked questions about my carrying and I passed over the MSP 86 bulletin. That straightened out their knowledge. They were amazed at what they could do! The whole time the booth next to us was not occupied. My strong side was facing it. During that time, I saw a Flint policeman walk out of the building as I was facing the window. I can't say if I created those two coincidences, but I was wondering. Good, otherwise.

Not my fault -> damn GLOCK levitated out of my holster & kept hitting the POST button.

On topic OCing right now with my GLOCK on a short tether so it cannot reach the keyboard on it's own again :o

Man these things are so sinister!

OCed On Target in Kzoo- no great shakes there. Adopted a homeless Ruger Blackhawk 45LC, and his homeless 45ACP cylinder, too. Little cowboy action!

OC'd at PEI WEI (Outside of Lakeside Mall) to pick up dinner. As i was walking up, so was an Off Duty WACO Sheriff Deputy in uniform with a kid (son?). His eyes drew a straight line to my gun, but no words. When we both went in he went to the restroom leaving his son in the lobby. So he must be comfortable with OC if he leaves his kid in the lobby area with an OC'r :)  kid looked to be 8-10 yrs old. I thought it was odd. Other than that no OC issues.

OCed at American Flooring in Okemos and Meijer in Okemos.  I think I saw the owner of American Flooring do a double take once, but not sure, and she never said anything during the half hour we talked about flooring and remained very friendly, smiling, and helpful.  I'll be back in the next day or two to return samples.  No problems at Meijer, either. Never have.

I just got home from Meijers.  While in the self-checkout lane I was talking with the attendant.  One of his co-workers sitting nearby noticed my sidearm.

Her: Is that a gun?
Me: No, it's a water pistol.
Her: Really?!
Me: Of course it's a gun *smile*

She then explained she felt safer with me around because I looked like someone who could protect them and she'd rather me have it than some thug.

As I left I gave them each an MOC Trifold.

On a side note as I moved North on Cedar Street in Lansing, there was half a dozen Lansing Squad cars parked out front (I mean -- in the middle of the road) of the "Fleetwood Diner" with their lights on taking up half the road.  As I moved passed them all in the turn lane, another cop car was turning it.  A dozen officers could be seen in the street/on the sidewalk investigating something.  It should be a good read in tomorrow's Lansing State Urinal (Journal) what happened there...

After the luncheon at Cafe Connection (btw, GREAT food), we went to Silver Bullet to see if there was anything we couldn't live without. Got out for under $20; whew....

On the way home, we witnessed a traffic accident (Autosurgeon, you missed seeing it  by 30 seconds).

Checked on the victims, all OK, and stuck around for Kentwood PD to arrive.

Had a nice chat with the driver of the not-at-fault vehicle about OC, CC, CPLs, sidearms and MOC. Nice kid, coming home from work

When KPD arrived, Steel Magnolia (who had put her long coat on due to the cold) announced that the was carrying with a CPL. I simply announced that I was armed with my hands well away from my .45. He replies 'I can see that!'

He took our statements, no drama, and then we had a nice chat about OC, CC and a well armed citizenry. Great guy; one of Kentwood's finest! First interaction with Kentwood PD, OC or CC.

Gave him a trifold, as well as the driver of the not-at-fault vehicle. I don't think the elderly woman who was at fault would have been interested in one....
