Spent the day with my wife and kids. We went to lunch and Finley's. OC strong side out at the table. No one made a big deal. Went to Menards OD'd through the store for almost 2 hours no one even batted and eyelash. Then spent the rest of the  CC with my wife going to various places around the area. All in all it was a good day.

Jetmech67, sounds like you're making the rounds.  I've OCed in all the recent places you've mentioned several times and have yet to have a negative experience.

OC'd to Kent County Sheriff's Office (South Substation) to drop off pistol registration papers.  No problems or even questions!  Stopped at the Verizon store to check out new phones, was asked a few questions, no one freaked out, gave a trifold to my salesperson and gave him a flyer to post about the OC Seminar at Gander on March 10.  Everyone was interested in the seminar so we should have a good turnout!  Pretty uneventful OC experience, just as it should be.

Well, got the opportunity to visit the new gun & knife show in the Deltaplex, and was quite pleased. Parking was orderly, paid our $5 to get in, AND, most importantly, lawful carry was allowed.

Many well stocked booths, with something for everyone (unless you were looking for Pakistani incense or funnel cakes). Only a few booths selling toys I could have done without. Airsoft doesn't belong at a gun & knife show, in my opinion. You opinion may differ.

Everything was well laid out with generous aisles between rows, great lighting.

Only down point was a comment at the gate (which I did not hear about until after I went through the show) that lawfully carried sidearms must be concealed. Not only is that absurd, but potentially incorrect, as one may argue that the Deltaplex is an entertainment facility. If so, lawful carry would only be OC with a CPL, and no carry without. Nevertheless, no one said anything about my exposed weapon after I took my jacket off- it was getting a little tropical.

All in all, a fabulous first showing for J&J.

After we left there, Steel Magnolia suggested we trot down to Wyoming to check out the former tenants of the Deltaplex show.

Took a while to find it; got some bad info that it was in the old Studio 28 theater facility. Wrong. It was in the back of a little strip mall in an old fabric store. Parking was a zoo; people were literally parking in the driveways, choking the access down to one lane. I'm surprised that the Wyoming Fire Department didn't shut them down; no way they could get a fire truck or rescue unit anywhere near the front door. Parking in the aisles was also 3 deep; cars were literally trapped between other vehicles, and had no other recourse other then to wait for whoever blocked them to finish their shopping.

Outside the front door was a large sign claiming that the buying & selling of firearms in the parking lot was 'illegal'. I'd love to see a cite on that; I believe it to be an empty, bogus and childish attempt to interfere with free trade. I call BS, unless they can show a state law prohibiting it. A city ordinance does not cut it; preemption takes care of that.

Since there was no legitimate place to park, and I wasn't willing to take the risk of my vehicle getting trapped between two bozos, or worse, we decided to get out of the area as quickly as possible. It may have been gun nirvana in the old fabric store, but I wasn't taking any chances.

I recommend that next time they find a legitimate venue that can accommodate the inevitable crowds, instead of some old strip mall fabric store. I was embarrassed for them.

OCed Sandy's Country Kitchen by Gun Lake for breakfast, then off to Bob's in Hastings to see if there were any homeless guns that needed adopting. Later, OCed the gun shown at the Deltaplex (see review in a different thread). Gander Mountain in Kentwood, then off to Applebee's off Kalamazoo Ave in Gaines Twp.

A few interested folks asked questions, handed out lots of trifolds. A great day overall.

OC'd at two separate elementary schools today and speedway. Did not make it to vote or I would have OC'd there too (which would have made it a third school). With all the OC in a school madness lately I have had no issues.

Okemos: Meijer, American Flooring
Haslett: Bluegill Grill

Did not OC while voting because it is in a school and there was really no good way to do so without wearing a coat, so it would have also been CC for at least part of it.   :)

OC'd at Buddys Grill in Holt when I went to pick up my carry out order.  I opened the door for a guy coming out and he thought it would be "funny" to hold up his hands and say don't shoot me...or something to that effect.  Some people are just idiots...

No she was in a Dress. She has taken her Cpl class but has not yet gotten her permit. She and I took the class offered last September on the west side of the state as a fundraiser for the MOC fight against CADL. It was a refresher(10 yr anniversary of my CPL) course for me, it was her 1st time. Skip, Chuck and the other guy did an excellent job. I am not sure regarding the hall (AND DON'T WISH TO ENGAGE IN DISCUSSION/ARGUMENT OR DEBATE) if a CPL was required to open carry their the way I looked at it once I cleared it with her (it is the brides day after all, so I asked her "open carry or not?" She gave the best response possible "it is who you are. I would not ask you to not be yourself") I figured its my hall from 5pm till midnight I paid over $4k ill wear what I want.

The staff had absolutely no issues with it. In fact the manager was cleaning up around 11:15pm and he and I were near the front door and 3 young guys burst in the door and made a b-line to the men's room. I asked him if he knew the guys? They looked like trouble. I moved myself closer to the entrance to the hall. He didn't respond at first and like I said they looked like trouble I was fearful they would exit the bathroom with ski masks and shotguns or something (to much tv I guess) the manager finally responded " Oh yeah that's one of our bouncers and his buddies. He is off and they are probably here to pick up someone after work"  He , was now paying more attention and noticed my concern and my stance he said "oh yeah..wow, yeah thanks... no they are ok no problems... Thanks for that." I said "oh your welcome all I know is my new wife was going to make it out safely" He chuckled

OC'ed at Lowe's and Home Depot today with out a single look.  Went there with my mom to help her get a cabinet for her house.  I went in after her, walked around Lowe's and she never even noticed, it wasn't till we got to Home Depot that she even noticed.   It was a good day of OC'ing!

Open Carried at Taco Bell for the new Dorito taco!! The guy taking my order asked me about my sidearm and him, another gentleman, and myself started talking about open carry, they both seemed pretty interested.  I had my cell phone recording and I was finally able to catch something on audio...so here it is.
