This sign was posted at a public park and a public parking garage in down town Raleigh, NC. I did not notice any other signs, but I bet their parks are well posted. I also seen a "It's ok to say no" signs regarding details giving change to panhandlers..

We will more then likely start seeing those in a year or two, with many guns owner in MI being so happy about giving up guns rights as they are currently doing.

The difference between the signs in Michigan and those in North Carolina is that the NC signs carry the weight of law with criminal penalties specified in the state's statute for violating the. We have no such criminal penalties in any of our firearm statutes.

Ohio is another state where signs carry the weight of law. But Ohio's statutes are more specific as to size wording, font size and placement.

In North Carolina, a hand written sign on the door is sufficient.

There is some force of law in Michigan.  If you get asked to leave and you don't you're trespassing.  Whether or not signs can "tell" you to leave or not has been a point of debate.

Correct, if the owner or the owner's agent asks you to leave.

That is codified.

Signs related to firearms are not codified.

willful ignorance, I believe it is called, could be brought into question regarding the sign however.  Wasnt it decided in a court case (I cant recall) that as long as any "normal" person can see the sign or find the sign then the sign stands.  And that you cant play the "I didnt know" or "I didnt see it" cards in regards to such signs and notices?

Let us not confuse a "public place" with "public property" -- two different things!

I should have been more accurate, both were public property. I do not have a cite, but yesterdays paper from down here stated that the law changed Dec. 1, but local govt's are expanding or interpreting the law differently.

The story is CC centric, but it mentions OC in PFZ much like what we have.
