Hard chrome XDM 45 acp

My XDM is starting to get wear marks from my blackhawk holster and im going to get it hard chromed my option is send it in to springfield or go with the company Metaloy industies I researched them and they look like a great company too do the job. Just wondering if any body has had there guns done by them and are satisfied with the work they do and if it really holds up with what they claim.

Those plastic holsters are hard on even the most durable of finishes. It'll destroy a hard chrome finish also.

The XDm is finished with Melonite.  That $#|t doesn't come off.  You sure it's not the plastic wearing off on the slide? ;)

Since we have strayed away from the original question, I will continue. Throw the blawkhawk holster in the trash and buy another brand maybe something with a lining. Next have you considered the Robar NP3 finish, it is better then hard chrome in my opinion.

+1    safariland ALS holster will provide great retention but also has a suede lining to help with holster wear...    but to be honest, WHO CARES about holster wear.. if it is your every day carry pistol, it's not meant to look pretty, it's meant to save you.  Holster wear adds character.

Also, Doug at ATEi may beable to help you out with some refinishing, etc..   Doug is a fellow MOC member and OCer in michigan.

He also does custom serration on the slides. With them you ac do one handed slide racking against almost any surface. Even your pants leg.

+1 Doug is the GURU of firearms mods/upgrades. His trigger job on my pistol is awesome. I've seen his serrations and they are impressive to say the least.  8)

For theQ it's the black finish and ive been told holstering and holstering with strip all finishes even glocks. Thanks for telling me about ATEI it's five minutes from my house those seration mods are SICK goin to get a hold of him when i get my next paycheck
