Another Open Carry while voting story...

This one happened in Lake Fenton High School in Fenton Township.

Police were dispatched and found all to be in compliance and left.

Police chief agrees that it was lawful.

Actually I see it a little different.

Michigan Legislature has always held that only criminals conceal their weapons. Therefore the have only regulated the concealed carry of pistols.

Taken to its logical conclusion, the legislature still wants to regulate the concealed carry on school property. Thereby still allowing the open carry by law abiding citizens.

Ignorance and the lack of understanding is always the problem with legislation!

At least in THIS case the police on the scene knew the law...a refreshing change.

I don't fault the school officials for calling the police in either this or the Grand Rapids case.  They don't know the law intimately (although many school officials are learning from these two cases).

But the key here is that the police that arrived on the scene knew he was legal...unlike Grand Rapids
