Indiana to Michigan
« on: April 22, 2012, 04:30:38 PM »
Hey there all,

I'm new to these forums and Michigan carry laws. I will be in Michigan all summer and had one question I can't seem to find the answer to. I live in Indiana and so my Dad had to buy the handgun and all that (I am 20), but I am legal to carry it here. I keep seeing that guns must be registered to those who carry them, but I also see that anyone 18 or older in Michigan can carry.  My question is:

Can I legally carry the handgun I have been carrying already in Indiana, in Michigan?

I believe I would be just fine to do so, but I want some input from y'all. Thanks

You can only carry a handgun that isn't registered to you in Michigan if you have a concealed carry permit.

Does Indiana issue permits to 20 year olds?

Yes here in Indiana you can get your LTCH at 18, it's a "LICENSE TO CARRY" not a permit, that allows us to both CC/OC. However your parents or guardians have to buy the handgun and ammo. If you ever have questions on Indiana carry laws I would highly suggest going to http://ingunowners.com/forums/index.php.

If your permit allows you to OC or CC in Indiana, it will allow you to do the same here (assuming you are a resident of Indiana).  Michigan doesn't recognize non-resident permits (ex: Live in Indiana, but licensed from Maine) for the purpose of concealment.

I had already read that, but thanks for double checking.
