Actually only a couple important ones to "know" and to "know very well" until you get a CPL.

Places where possession is prohibited:

Ah, I see.  Yes, that certainly makes it easier, a good place to start, anyway.  Much thanks!

I never even knew it was legal to open carry in Michigan!  Much less without a permit.  Of course, I am only eighteen.  I think that this is awesome... and I'm quite pleased to learn that an 18 year old can own a handgun (even if I cannot buy one) which brings me to some questions.

Can an 18 year old get a CCW?

If I cannot buy a handgun, how could I get one without getting into the whole "straw man purchase" thing?

How would I go about getting a CCW exactly?

Can the police refuse to license me?

Where can I not carry even if I had a CCW while open carrying?

Answers would be very much appreciated!

Thanks.

Straw man is an anti-gun term.If a private citizen buys a pistol with purchase permit orCPL(form RI060) and turns the forms in,that registers that gun to that private citizen. That private citizen can then sell that pistol to you if you provide a purchase permit(which is lawfull at the age of 18).As long as the permits or forms are filled out properly, and turned in promtly, there is virtualy little time required for that private citizen to re-sell that pistol to a permited citizen!Thats how I bought my first pistol from a sherriff leutenant. The true meaning of"Straw Purchase" is when a legal buyer sells or gives said pistol to a prohibited person(felon etc.).Thus the person who gives or sells the pistol to a prohibited person becomes a criminal by commiting that act! Read up and educate yourself on firearm laws here and at open carry.org,MGO.org so you can exercise Your Rights Responsibly,as all citizens must do! Welcome!CARRY ON!

Thanks!  I'll be careful about what terminology I use for sure.

I'd love to carry on, if only I actually had a handgun...

One of the "experts" here contends that anytime a purchase is made from a FFL and then transferred to another person, albeit a lawful transfer, is a "straw man" transaction. I guess that's why he's an "expert" and we're not.
