Lansing: Who is up for a gun buyback this weekend?
« on: August 15, 2012, 10:22:45 AM »
All,

The LPD gun buyback will be this weekend. More details to come later today.

That being said, who is up to buying some guns in Lansing this Saturday (8/18)?

Just to be clear, I'm talking about buying guns from others -- not selling!

Update: Location
We could prepare signs and stand on the public sidewalk for after we get kicked off.

Rendezvous Information
Location: KFC/Long John Silver's
Date: 8/18/2012@9:30 AM

Bring with you: Home made sign advising something like "Have Gun for Sale? I have cash!" or what will you.

More details given at rendezvous

I'm seriously thinking about this. I do recall when some others did it in Detroit. They got hassled by the Detoilet Police and forced from the church property.

What is the venue? Churches are usual locales for doing these sort of things.

I was thinking of going to the gun show in GR, but I can do that on Sunday. I'm interested in more details.

I prefer flipping off the safety of my stainless1911 (not to be confused with brainless1911, whom I'd also like to flip off).

They are only accepting guns that are in working order -- which will weed out the bad guns for us ;)

Sweet!!! Maybe I'll bring that highly customized  Sig P220 Stainless Elite Carry that I'm trying to sell. I'm only asking $1500 for it and it's well worth every bit of $2200.

What you jeer me for this time?!?!? Geez, you're pretty hard on me. But I do appreciate you trying to get the jeers back above the cheers. It just doesn't look good for me. ;)

I had a good time at the event. Took home a Marlin 22LR semi-auto rifle with scope for $100. I know some other members got some pretty good deals too. Including a Norinco AK with 5 mags.

From what I could tell a good 80-90% of what was being turned in was junk, but luckily we were able to scrape some cream off the top.

Thanks for the idea.

Interaction with LPD Chief yesterday at the start of the buyback:

http://qik.com/video/53776908

PD Cruiser coming up to probably point his dash cam at us the whole time and intimidate others from selling to us.  After he walked away, he left his cruiser sit there.

We carried out our transactions across the street, outside the view of his camera.

More fo the police chief:

That's all of our police interactions.

"You know, there's rules and regulations about buying guns on the street."

No, there aren't actually, but maybe you can cite them for me in the law.

YEah it's pretty much based on your current score...   try to keep ya balanced...  ;)

Of course, good zingers and all brainless jokes will always get cheers...   :D

Yeah, I thought that was a great line too!!
