New York times on the recent NY shooting and gun control

The article talks in some parts about the need for more gun control -- particularly it suggests the .45 ACP needs to be better controlled.  I guess the fact the .45 was already illegally possessed (and that law didn't stop the shooter) doesn't occur to them.  Why would more gun control solve the problem if the existing gun control laws didn't?

METL:
Yeah because it would have made a huge difference if he used a .22 or a .380 or a .45..    I read in one article he shot the guy in the chest, then shot him in the head after he fell.  Pretty sure it didn't matter what gun he used at that point.

Of course the talk of limiting .45 is ridiculous, especially when compared to your statements of how the current laws obviously failed.

They have to take SOMETHING from this situation though since they didn't get their mass shooting they wanted.

It's the NYT.   ::)   See this:

Perry Stevens fired four [.45ACP] shots into Temple's torso.  Officer Harrison had already fired one shot into Temple's abdomen.  With Temple still struggling with the officer, Perry continued to advance toward the scuffle.

"He again orders Mr. Temple to stop what he was doing and get off the officer.  Those commands are ignored and he fires a fifth shot and that hits his head.  The incident is over with, and as you know, Mr. Temple is dead."
