State Gun?

In the list of official state stuff fer example; state flower, state bird, state motto, etc. Do we have a state gun? I found out this mornin that AZ. has in it's list, a "State Gun", it's, naturally, the a 45 long colt, single action revolver, but they have a state gun, I think we should have a state gun. (But all states should have a state gun fer that matter). What do ya'll think?

Would be nice, but do you want to get something that's unique to Michigan.  Although some state items are picked because they are common to the state.

So which gun????

A historic one, say the most common gun in use in 1837 (year we became a state).  Modern one?  manufactured in Michigan?

I'd have to agree. the 30-30 has been platform handed down through generations here in Michigan and has killed a lot of whitetail in Michigan.

30-30 is a good suggestion.  The state mammal is a whitetail deer.  Which make and model?

The Marlin 336 is a bit better in that it ejects from the side. The Win94 is a bit more identified as an old west gun too.

But I agree that the 30-30 is the quintessential Michigan whitetail slayer.

I have a Win94, chambered .30 cal. Bought it on Nov 12,1991 at the K-mart in Escanaba on sale fer $199. out the door. Was up there fer 2 wks. of deer camp. Went with my boss and some other fellers who worked on a framing crew we was friends with. Took a doe with it bout 6 days later. It's a great gun fer tree-stand huntin, alot of fellers own 30-06's though. But ya, the Win94-.30.30 got my vote, if there was a vote.

Marlin 336C, 30 30 was my first rifle. I brought it a K-Mart in 1978 after i came out of the Army. It sold for $ 118.00. Sold it 10years later, for $ 200.00. Wish i still had it. Now one on sale at Dunham's is $ 399.00, Reg $499.00. Carry On.
