Hello from Gibraltar
« on: September 28, 2012, 06:55:13 PM »
Hello Forum! Saw this website a lot when I was getting into owning firearms in the past few months, yeah I'm a newbie  :'(, and figured I'd join up to have some fun. I'm currently 19, male, and looking to get into a career dealing with firearms if possible! I regularly carry my Glock 19 on me in the small town of Gibraltar, and figured now would be a good time to make some new friends and worry the neighbors  ;D.

Welcome from Grand Rapids!

Beware the liquor license trap- you must have a CPL to possess a handgun on the premises of any organization or company holding a liquor license. This includes many gas stations & retail establishments, even if they don't actually sell liquor at that location. Some have a statewide license that covers all locations, e.g. Speedway.

And Since he is 19, I doubt he has a CPL.

The OP would do well to review MCL 750.234d as well as our new/getting started thread.

As per using that link only 4 locations showed up on the list, the gas station I went to not among them. Does this mean I'm in the clear?

Is the gas station license to sell liquor/dor they sell liquor, beer, or wine?

I've seen very few gas stations that don't...!

Well I could not find them in the database I looked through. I know for a fact they sell it there, however as per the database they are not licensed and therefor that law you cited was irrelevent. I'll look into it more tomorrow, but thank you both for the warning.

If they are selling without a license, THEY are violating the law.
