Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand
thamesmeister:
For the readers out there, I suggest that you try and wade through this 1200 page novel by the subject author. It clearly demonstrates where this country is headed without an awakening by the American People and a serious change of leadership. For those of you that prefer, the movie is available from Amazon to buy or rent and if you have a Netflix account you can watch it for free.
The movie is quicker but certainly demonstrates what will happen if "big government" continues to get bigger and the American people allow it to happen.
Basically, Ayn Rand believed that the government is trying to convince people that we should feel ashamed if we want to be rewarded for our hard work and that we should put the needs of others above our own.
The entire 2nd amendment is under siege unless we vote out those that do not support our constitutional rights. I think the astute members of this forum will enjoy the read or the movie. By the way, part II of Atlas Shrugged is in theaters now. So watch the first....it's a bit of a scare but brings a lot to light.

Isn't the movie just Atlas Shrugs, part 1? Or is it the entire book?
thamesmeister:
The movie that's available on Netflix is Part I. The one that just started in theaters this week is part II. The two movies encompass the whole book (condensed greatly, of course). The first part is one of the best movies that I have seen and as of yet, I have not been able to see part II.
There is also a documentary about Ayn Rand on Netflix that gives a lot of background on her. She's greatly maligned by those who don't want her telling the American people what our politicians and industry C.E.O.'s are up to.....
The documentary is well worth watching as well.
TheQ:
The book was in three parts. You sure the movie is only 2?
thamesmeister:
Not sure, there probably will be a third. It's a long book....
