question about mounting red dot
« on: November 02, 2012, 12:16:13 PM »
Ok, I picked up a Rossi(Taurus) Circuit Judge about a month ago.  I've got an inexpensive red-dot I'd like to put on it (my 10 year old hates iron sights), but want to figure out how to mount it so I can still see the irons.  The Judge comes with a short rail mounted on it, and the red-dot has the right clamps for it, but it completely blocks the irons, and it sits too high to see them through it.  I know for scoped rifles, you can pick up a set of rings that are open underneath, and you can see the irons, but does anyone know if you can get the same thing that has a rail on top?

Something like this is what I'm thinking:

It only needs to be about 1/2" or so to see through, but with all my google-fu, I haven't been able to find anything.

Edit: Just googled your rifle and my suggestion of co-witness won't work.

Red dots is a generic term used for Aim-Point optics.

I know what a red dot is, I was just referring him to a gunsmith that knew a lot about them.

It appeared as though you were asking a question, by having placed the punctuation symbol "?" at the end of your truncated sentence.

Yeah, I saw pics of his pistol before. I didn't think to get in touch with him.

Thanks all, and if anyone else has suggestions let me know!
