Gun Show Open Carry Question
« on: January 19, 2013, 10:26:43 PM »
We received this in the mailbox today:

Quote
I was wondering if I can open carry in the general area market place during the gun show?? I do not have a cpl, so we planned on open carrying. I have been robbed at the trade center b4 and I don't feel comfortable leaving my firearm in my truck. I emailed the show people but all they said was cpls are welcome, but I cannot carry concealed. Did you find out if its ok to open carry anywhere.: The content of message field on the contact form

Anyone have an answer for him?

Might help if we knew where he is talking about. Public vs private property, etc.

I carry a gun because a Police Officer is too heavy.

Gibralter Trade Center is private property so they could ban OC even in the general area. Last time I was at the Taylor location I OC'd with no problems, but that was some time ago. Not sure if they have changed policy or not.

Thank you for the info. I'll give it a go hopefully during the gun and knife show people won't act weird about it.
Thanks again

What Ezerharden said has been my experience as well, they wont let you carry in the show area unless the gun is empty and zip tied but I haven't had any problems in the rest of the building.

Don't waste time looking at the list on the MCRGO web page as it is not accurate. If anybody sends in a business name it is posted on their list as a no gun business, nobody bothers to check to see if it is true.

Any gun show that does not allow lawful carry is unworthy of the business. Don't sell your human rights to a Fuddapalooza for a dollar. There are plenty of legitimate firearms dealers that will welcome your business while honoring your rights.
Its not GUN rights, its HUMAN rights.

Here's a gun show that isn't run by fudds:

https://www.facebook.com/pages/Michigan-Gun-and-Knife-Shows/131548160279181?ref=ts&fref=ts

I met the promoters, Kathi and Kevin Hauser, last night at the Madison Heights MOC Dinner. They welcome all that lawfully carry a firearm in their shows. Their only restriction is that it remain holstered. (Unless needed for defense.)

I am going to pursue having a MOC table at their shows. I would also encourage all that are interested in attending gunshows to check theirs out. They are MOC members that support us. Let's support them.

Sounds like a good idea. I wanted to start going to the gun shows to get more support for MOC, looks like a fine place to start.
