OC on a "bike"

(1/2) > >>

TheQ:
This one came directly to my personal MOC address:

Can you tell me if it is lawful to open carry while riding a bike?

Thanks

Ezerharden:
Bike as in bicycle or motorcycle? It does make a difference. On a motorcycle it is a gray area, some say a CPL is required others say it is not because you are not "in" the vehicle. I would personally only ride with a CPL. On a bicycle I don't believe there are any laws regarding it any more than being a pedestrian.

Two points of debate here.

1: Does "in" include on?

2: What is/isn't a "vehicle"?

Sadly, I have yet to find a definitive answer for either question.

Maybe you could reference the law that you are speaking about?

FASBOLD:
I'm trying to remember where I read it, but I think it used the words "motorized vehicle", so pedal power would be OK, but any type of motor would require CPL.

If I am remembering the above correctly, the gray area would be a moped, no CPL needed if pedaling, but if using the motor you need a CPL. ???

I will try to find where I read this and post back.
