First off. This is my first post and hope all you veterans welcome me with patience and arms wide open

I'm 19 and have been thoroughly researching open carry without a CPL for the past couple months. Finally picked up my piece and holster and am ready to carry but am a little confused with the "liquor license" law. It is clear to me that I cannot openly carry without a CPL or a form of written permission from management. My question is: can I carry at my local Walmart that sells beer and wine but doesn't have a liquor license?

http://www2.dleg.state.mi.us/llist/Qry.jsp? Using this website I looked up active licensees in Calhoun county and in the city of Battle Creek ( which is where this Walmart resides ) and my Walmart is not listed. To me it seems legal to carry there, again openly without a CPL.

Any insight is much appreciated as I don't want my right to conceal in the future revoked.

Does Walmart sell liquor or beer? If the answer is yes, then they are probably licensed to do so.
My guess is that Walmart has a license for every location they have in the state and that license is sort of a "blanket license"

No liquor. Just beer and wine. Does this i can carry here under my circumstances? Ill look into the intro section momentarily.

In the MOC seminar that I went to this came up and it was pointed out by the presenter that chain stores, like Wal-Mart, Meijer, Speedway, etc. have a liquor license that covers all stores in the state.

So even if your Wal-Mart did not sell alcoholic beverages, it would still fall under the corporate liquor license.

That is how it was presented in my recollection.

No!

Any place that sells alcohol has a license issued by the MLCC (Michigan Liquor Control Commission).  You cannot lawfully carry there without a CPL.

750.234d provides an exception for "a person licensed by this state or another state to carry a concealed weapon."

It might be worth looking into non-resident permits from other states. Maine comes to mind.

For concealment purposes, this is true.

People have put forth it would provide an exemption for 750.234d.

As a low level supervisor at Walmart, who actually orders the liquor, I can promise you, all Walmart's in Michigan have a State of Michigan Liquor License.  Searching for a licensee on that list I searched for Calhoun County and "Wal-Mart" and got a hit as well.

If you have to ask "can I carry here?" Because they might sell alcohol (or do) then check out this site, its a list of all the active liquor licenses in the state of Michigan.  If they are on here they are licensed by the state to sell alcohol, and thats all that matters.  If you're not sure, check the list.

Yes that is the site that I mentioned in my original post. As I said my Walmart is not on that list but someone mentioned that chain stores have a statewide license. I will be using that site for other stores though.
