M16, full auto, where to shoot

I would love to get a M16, full auto but I was wondering where I could shoot it.
Some say Target sports.  Could I shoot it legally at the pit?  I have not been there for years..bet it gets crowded.
I would like to join a club around metro Detroit/Highland/Hartland/Brighton/Howell area.
Does anyone know of a gun club that allows full auto???

Well unless you have about $20,000 and file the necessary paper work your not going to get one.  you can rent them at a bunch of ranges but buying one is not as easy as just going and filling out some papers and picking it up.  Even a bare registered lower receiver is going to run you a few grand but expect to pay closer to $10,000 for it.

Typically they will run you $10,000 and i seen them for as high as $30,000. I use to work with a PMC so during that time is when i got my Class 3.  Head over to the ATF's website and start the process on F 5310.12 (F7). It will take you a while and get your check book out because your going to need it.


Honestly slidefire stocks are cheaper and require nothing really and i have very very very rarely shot automatic. Even working with a PMC. Its really just a waste unless your a range ninja wanting to have people think that you are cool. Also with ammo prices they way they are i would stay far away from automatic.

Yeah, full auto just sounds like a waste of $$$ to me...   now 3 round burst...  THAT"s something I would love to have.

Full Auto is a riot when you're shooting an actual machine gun.

But for an M4/M16/some other carbine, meh.

I regularly watch a classified site with NFA items. And even a RDIAS is upwards of $12-15,000 and a 18 month wait for ATF processing. That's IF your CLEO will even sign off for you. Some people have a hard time just getting a CPL in some counties. Imagine the trouble they'd encounter trying to get their CLEO to sign for a machinegun.

Just read a listing for a DOE M14. Now that'd be something to own. But at $30,000 it is a bit out of my range.

You're funny.  Jeff wants to buy a gun for $20K and you suggest he should be worried about the $400 for an NFA trust?     

Oh, and will full auto $400 worth of ammo will probablly last 10 minutes at the range!
