So I've always been curious (since I don't have a vette, and have driven a C5 only once) - who do you think is better: Lingenfelter or Hennessey?

I don't know Lingenfelter... but Hennessey has a string of blown engines and lawsuits to their names.

I seem to recall hearing stories about him supposedly stripping down cars and selling the motor and such. Don't know how legit the claims are.

Saleen has the amazing ability of self promotion.

Few years ago, I counted something like 20+ corporations that had been started and later ceased operations.  His latest company is looking for investors...

I'm not 100% sure I'd agree, but having said that, I will be selling mine and buying a new Stingray.

Anyone besides me watching this? 10 Corvette caravan taking the new Z06 from the GM Tech Center to Cobo Hall in Detroit with police escort, complete with flashing lights.

Now 20 Corvettes and two Corvette pace cars. Z06 is camouflaged.

There's more flashing lights here than a presidential motorcade.

Ten more C7's joined the motorcade as they were leaving I-696, driving down I-75 now. 32 new C7 Corvettes, a new C7 Z06, and a boatload of cops. New Corvettes taking over the Detroit highways!

Ten more Corvettes. Over 50 now! Chris Christie, this is how to take over a highway!

Yeah, and I'm guessing it's still going to be a fraction of the cost of some European job.

Not at all. I do prefer the C6.

Really a moot point for me though. Not like I'd ever buy one.

Event recording is now available at original link. Skip to 8:39 where live coverage begins. You see them leaving the GM Tech Center and doing a "Michigan turn" on Mound Road heading south toward I-696. Police have traffic (temporarily) stopped.

Not completely accurate!

It was actually 10.5B, but even then, that does NOT include the pre bankruptcy Tarp Money, IRC was several Billion all by itself.  It also does not include the uncollectible debt they stuck the banks and bond holders with, and forced Tarp and other bailouts with.

Don't get me started on Chrysler!
