Not completely accurate!

It was actually 10.5B, but even then, that does NOT include the pre bankruptcy Tarp Money, IRC was several Billion all by itself.  It also does not include the uncollectible debt they stuck the banks and bond holders with, and forced Tarp and other bailouts with.

Don't get me started on Chrysler!
Ahh, what the hell's a half billion? A billion here. A billion there. Next thing you know you're talking about real money.

It was a UAW payoff.

Wall Street Journal: Our research finds that the president could have both kept the auto makers running and avoided losing money. The preferential treatment given to the United Auto Workers accounts for the American taxpayers' entire losses from the bailout. Had the UAW received normal treatment in standard bankruptcy proceedings, the Treasury would have recouped its entire investment. Three irregularities in the bankruptcy case resulted in a windfall to the UAW.

There you have folks... It's all the fault of labor. Get rid of them and hire monkeys.

Better still, how about having the ones in the monkey suits climb down from their lofty towers and crawl around in the pits of a paint booth for a few days and earn their keep? Or in the bowels of a stamping plant?

What did the article say?

It said it was the .gov's fault.  The funds diverted to the UAW account for the taxpayers' entire net loss.
