Hanover-Horton School Board considering resolution urging lawmakers to make it illegal to open carry firearms into public schools

At its meeting on Monday, Dec. 9, the district's Board of Education is expected to take action on a resolution asking state lawmakers to amend the state's open carry law so it includes schools, said Superintendent John Denney.

Can you image the blank stares if someone said amend the concealed carry law to prevent open carry in a school?

I really think that the legislature has a hard time dealing with the out-right banning of guns in places because it violates Article 1 Section 6. There are OK with regulating the concealed carry of a firearm, because it is the preferred method of carry by nefarious individuals wishing to engage in nefarious activities.

Have to agree with Pat on that issue. Bad guys don't OC. However I also believe that I should be able to carry as I see fit wherever I go based solely on the US Constitution and Michigan Constitution. But at the moment that is a pipe dream. I know I have put a few comments on the article, however the sheer stupidity of some there is more scary than an armed intruder. The fact that some of these idiots may actually believe what they spew is scary to the extreme.

I carry a gun because a Police Officer is too heavy.

Isn't this the second mlive article that flat out lies? (with this quote)

Quote from: mlive
The law, however, does prohibit open carry firearms in banks, places of worship, courts, theaters, sports arenas, daycare centers, hospitals and bars.

I believe they are saying this purposely so the public will think we only have OC rights in the Schools and the OC law allowing that must change. ::)
