OC at Meijers?
« on: December 19, 2013, 05:44:26 PM »
Ive been reading about experiences here and on OCDO.  For those of you who have gone into Meijer, have you run into the Greeter standing right at the entrance?  What were those interactions like?

The two main greeters at the Caledonia Meijer on Kalamazoo return my smile and nod every time. Zero issues.

I haven't tried that with Meijer with their greeters.  I typically do not open carry if I am with someone because I don't want them to have me asked to leave somewhere and they get stuck going in alone or whatever.  I don't need to have an argument with one of my friends about open carrying and have them pissy with me for having to leave somewhere.  I am usually with someone when I am out so I don't OC often.  Perhaps I will go to meijer tomorrow and see what happens, I need milk anyways.

No issues.  I regularly OC at the Meijer in Okemos and occasionally in South Lansing (near Holt).  Never a problem.  One time I was OCing in the summer and wearing an OCDO polo shirt while checking out at the self-check in the Meijer Okemos and the self-check attendant held me up wanting to talk about getting a CPL and the different types of pistols.  I advised him not to carry a "Detective's .38 Special" snubby revolver he was asking about.  Yes, there were people behind me waiting to check out.

Cause 17 rounds of 9mm is better than 6 rounds of .38?

What's wrong with carrying a. 38spl chiefs special?
Ergonomics
Hard to shoot
Trigger
Short sight radius
Limited round capacity
Slow to reload
Inferior round

Other than that, it's a fine weapon.

I used to carry a S&W Airweight .38 as a BUG, but never a primary.

I carry a gun because a Police Officer is too heavy.

I OC in the Jenison Meijer often. Say hi to the greeter every time. Even stopped and talked to one about his sweet custom motorcycle. Never a problem.

Can't be.  I read on MLive that OC is very rare, and since no one does it the police should stop them!

I work at Meijer and I have seen a couple people OC... but I work at night so who knows how many we get during the day.

What was amusing was that the Night Shift Store Director was worried about a guy OCing, but didn't believe we could say anything to him about it unless he was concealed carrying... our corporate policy does allows for customers to carry open or concealed... our "security" even agreed.
The price of freedom is the willingness to do sudden battle, anywhere, anytime, and with utter recklessness.

Aren't people that OC shot first?

How do they live long enough to make it to Meijers?

Three Meijers in Kalamzoo area, oc in all of them. Also in the Owosso/corunna store. No problems at any of them. Greeters are always friendly.
