Constitutional carry bill is a bad practical idea

So says the editors of the Spartanburg Herald-Journal in opposition to a bill that would allow South Carolinians to carry concealed weapons without training or permit.  SC Governor Nikki Haley has endorsed this bill.

The Herald-Journal editors write:

"The Second Amendment to the Constitution gives American citizens the right to carry arms, and you shouldn’t need a permit to exercise your rights.  But the practical dangers of the bill outweigh the reasonable philosophy behind it."

They almost start out okay (psst, the Constitution recognizes the right of citizens to carry arms, it doesn't grant it), but in the next sentence they throw it all away.  They acknowledge that individuals have this fundamental right, then they state that people shouldn't actually exercise that right while stating the philosophy behind the right is reasonable.
