What is Disc Golf
« on: March 17, 2014, 12:49:22 PM »
Disc golf is basically playing golf with frisbees instead of balls and clubs. Its a great low impact sport (even for those that are severely overweight).  In disc golf there are different shaped frisbees for different functions. Basically you have driver discs, mid-range discs, and putters.  This year will be the first where I will be open carrying while playing disc golf. (Some courses are remote and in locations that have no cell signal. but most tend to be around urban locations)

Awesome introduction to disc golf:

Didn't know you kept changing out discs. I thought you just showed up with a Frisbee and played.

Also, it's environmentally Jewish?

Rules wise. . . there are rules about not destroying plant life while playing.

Sounds perfect for most of us MOC members.

If you can walk up and down hills and bend over picking up a 171 gram disc at least 3 times per hole, you should be able to hit the links.

But disc golf is free and looks to be more fun.  And you don't have to put up with Nazi course rangers.

And if they did bother you, shoot 'em.

I highly suggest going to a government run park. Private disc golf courses (although very nice) could run into problems with owners.

there are some nice public parks in the suburbs that have disc golf courses. we used to point and laugh at them while sitting in the pavilions drinking beer (yes i was a mature young adult)

You mean you don't shoot the Frisbee?

What fun is that?!?!?

I can take the dog out to play Frisbee. Then I don't even have to retrieve the Frisbee.

This has great merit.

I play disc golf a lot in the summer actually :)  NOW let me tell you.... at least stretch before playing, it's easy to blow out your arm or shoulder or twist your back if you throw too hard without stretching.

Also, when your friend is walking 2 feet in front of you, don't try to whip the disc downrange chances are you will blast him in the side of the face and make it even worse by laughing uncontrollably.
