Oc near my home
« on: March 25, 2014, 12:31:23 PM »
In may of last year, My daughter (1 1/4 year old at the time.) and I were walking down to subway for lunch.

No issues there.

On the way home however, she was in my arms on the right side, (I carry left) A guy in a pickup, pulled over almsot hitting us, pulled over in a blocking manor.
This happened right across from the driveway to the police range near my home.

He got out of the truck and started yelling at me that I was gonna shoot up a school, that I was a criminal, and and a kidnapper because real parents dont carry guns.
I said "No thank you" and started walking past the truck

He grabbed a rifle from behind his seat, and demanded I hand over my daughter.

he aimed that rifle at my head... with my kid in my arm

I crouched, drew my 9 on him, and ordered him to put it down, and back away

His finger moved from the rifle to the trigger.

In my mind I knew I was going to die.

and I knew he was going to take my daughter.

my finger moved to my trigger and started to squeese when a off duty sherrif drove into the f**king truck.

They tackled the guy, and took Aubrey from me.

I let them take the M&P form me, and i started crying and I held that cop's brother

I held him like he was my dad, I was so scared...

The guy with rifle thought he was the good guy.
He was arrested for vehicular assault
endangering the welfare of a child
brandishing a weapon,
attempted murder
and loaded weapon in a car without a CPL.

I didnt have any training at that point.
In my mind the only thing I could think about was my little girl. and that I HAD to keep her safe
If this happened any closer to home or any further away, I think I would be dead. It happened right across from where the police have their range.

The sherrif saw the guy pull out the rifle from the cop's range

the fearful side of me says "I should have left my gun at home that day" The strong side of me says "I wish I had both of my pistols on me that day."

I was so close to firing...
The cop thought I didnt because I saw the his car coming.
He had a dinky read light on the dash, that I didnt even see until after he hit the truck
The cop totaled his car BTW

I didnt see anything in the news, however the local news at the time was not looking to make a gun owner look innocent.

Knowing the date, time, and other relevant information, maybe you could FOIA some of the incident reports. It'd be interesting to discover what the resulting conviction of the suspect was.

wow,  I'm surprised you didn't fire.  Hesitation can get you killed and might have.

+1 you point a firearm at me and i have mine drawn as well. im pulling the trigger. at that point i had reasonable belief that my life was in danger. no hesitation. start pulling the trigger and dont stop til the gun stops shooting
