MCRGO/MOC/MGO Joint Picnic in Detroit: June 14, 2014
« on: April 04, 2014, 02:00:14 PM »
Please RSVP On Facebook (If you use Facebook)
When: June 14, 2014 @ Noon-3:00 PM
Where: William G Milliken State Park and Harbor, Detroit, MI

MCRGO is hosting a picnic.

Come join MCRGO and the rest of Michigan’s Big 3 for our Southeast Michigan regional picnic in Downtown Detroit! These picnics are a chance for all gun owners and Second Amendment supporters to come together and enjoy good food, good conversation, and to discuss current Second Amendment rights issues. Both shelters at the park are now reserved.

The lawful open carry of a holstered handgun is encouraged, but not required. Feel free to bring anyone along that you wish, this is open to the public and anyone can attend, membership not required. There will be members of leadership present from each gun rights organization so if you have any questions or concerns this is a fantastic chance to have your questions answered or to voice your concern about gun rights issue in our state.

We do ask that you do NOT bring any alcoholic beverages, alcohol and firearms don’t mix, but if you would like to bring a dish to pass or a beverage to share feel free to bring it along. Some food will be provided by the participating organizations, but you can never have enough!

Please RSVP On Facebook (If you use Facebook)

What type of assistance is needed? It is easier for people to help with a need if they were to know what the need was.

I agree. Do you have a few hours a month to volunteer?

I have tried to get several people to go with me but I can't manage to get anyone because of it being fathers day weekend.

One of my friends, his wife that is very anti gun wouldn't let him take his kids there and he is to spend the whole weekend with him.  Other friends are just busy out of town and such.  I'm sure I can manage to get someone to go and if so I will make something.

Could be the most interesting picnic yet. There might be one protester.

Anybody else going down there to protest?

Edt: Never mind the carpool... heading over with a friend.

Three young women came up to me shortly after I got to the picnic. They were asking about CPL classes. When they said they lived in Detroit, I directed them to Rick Ector. I wish Rick had been there.

A member of MCRGO recalled Rick's website and I made sure they had brochures for MOC and the other orgs that had brochures. I answered a lot of questions. One was 22, the other 20 and the third only 16, so I explained the issues of purchasing a pistol prior to age 21. I suggested they get online to get more information.

There was a local LEO in a car parked on the street where he could see us when I got there. He left for a bit, and either the same or another was back later in the same spot. I waved at him as I walked to my car when I left.
