"Open Carry in general is stupid"
« on: April 06, 2014, 12:30:45 PM »
MCRGO posted the SOS story on their facebook page, and this reply really pissed me off. Our good friend Brady has banned me from the MCRGO FB page so I was hoping one of you could reply to this idiot. Here is his post-

Because the Officers don't know if anything illegal is happening until they arrive on sight. While it is technically legal, Open Carry in general is stupid. A) if there are bad guys present, your the first one they will target. B) While it is legal, it does not set well with the general public. This isn't Dodge City. C) persons under 21 are not allowed to purchase handguns since Michigan passed the Shall issue laws. Gov Engler required that ownership be changed to 21 at the time.
I spent 33 years in the Criminal Justice system and have many friends in State and local law enforcement. Virtually all police officers support legal concealed carry but are vexed by the open carry movement. Open Carry will only harm our cause in the long run.

My reply A) Has that happened that you can show? B) I remember when seeing an interracial couple walking hand in hand didn't "set well with the public" so? C) A person under 21 but over 18 can purchase a pistol from a private individual. They can't get a CPL thankfully they can OC. Police not 'liking' a legal activity sounds like a police issue not a free citizens.

I am also unable to find any negative posts from Brady. Everything I can find from him on FB and in the article(s) is very supportive.

I interact with Brady frequently, he is very supportive of OC.

If detroit_fan was not talking about comments from Brady, then his wording is very poor.

If detroit_fan was banned by Brady, it was likely for a valid reason. Brady is not quick nor liberal with the ban hammer. Most of us have managed to not get ourselves banned.

If detroit_fan would like to regain his privileges, I would recommend writing to Brady and asking nicely.

I got banned there by Brady. Only took one post calling out brainless1911.
He did let me back on. But that was after he'd had enough of brainless1911's crap and banned him. I promised not to ever bash brainless1911 on the MCRGO FB page anymore. Which is easy since he's banned now.

I don't think so as long as that is consistently enforced.   I don't have a FB page in my name .... Mainly because I don't want to waste time there .... I let my wife tell me everything she wants me to know.   It's much faster!   Plus I don't need old classmates "friending" me.  I didn't talk to them 40+ years ago so why do I want to talk to then now???

i use my real name on FB, i also have 2 profiles. one readily available to the public with little to no information and my real one which is hidden as much as FB allows. funny thing my employer now did a search and found my "fake" profile. that was the main reason i did it. i use it to keep in touch with people i grew up with in the old neighborhood. as well as my work buddies
