Any updates on a new 5500?

Still in search for the "right" Sponsor closing McMilln was a hard loss to take.

How about giving it to Dale Zorn in the Senate?

Hey, maybe Sheriff Senator Jones would like a shot at it?

It would be awesome to have Senator Hildenbrand introduce it.  Call it a parting gift for Hartwell.

I'm not entirely sure how pro-gun Dale is. He has voted the right way most of the time, but I don't see him as bucking the Snyder/party line much.

Still, if you think he would be a good choice, I live in his district and can possibly help if we need someone from his district to talk to him.

I received an email from Shane Preston, Zorn's Legislative Director the other week, telling me that MOC has a friend with them, so I am only judging from that.  They read the MOC newsletters.  Since this is an MOC bill, I can contact Shane in Dale's office and ask if he'd be willing to introduce and sponsor a new 5500 if the MOC board wants.  Or if Tom, Phil, Jason, or Jared want to, here is his contact info.

We are currently working on things in the House at the moment, but I say go ahead and see if he is interested. It's a good strategy to introduce a bill in each chamber at the same time.

I actually got a phone call from Shane, yesterday. He claimed that there was a glitch and he couldn't respond via email to the email I sent Dale about removing one of the PFZ's for every new LEO carve out/exemption. He seemed like a good guy and invited me to then NRA banquet in Ida, MI next weekend. He agrees that the PFZ's need to go, but is trying to find a way that will actually get through to Snyder and get singed. It sounds like he is on our side, but is realistic about some of our wishes chances of making it through in the current climate in Lansing.

Here is my suggested response:

At this point we need someone to stand up and offer a clean 28.425o repeal and that needs to happen before someone else come along and offers to give something away. Like open carry.

Give us something to fight for. Give us something to get behind. Don't start by giving up.

Please have him contact me. We are discussing a PFZ opportunity right now internally. PHofmeister@miopencarry.org
