« on: May 02, 2014, 10:44:46 PM »
Looking at getting my ccw and came across this possible class? Its in my area and was wondering if anyone else had experiance with this group and if so does it meet the requirements to certify. I plan on oc but I figure this would be my fisrts step. Any information is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Moc members often hold cpl classes, I'd highly suggest one of those.

Looks like he's talking about this place in Jackson County.

Looks like its owned and run by a few cops.

DJ, I am not familiar with them.  It would qualify for your CPL, but I don't know the quality of their education.

Yeah Jackson County. I'd like to find something else than bp. Laywer or as was mentioned an moc member. I hear cop instructors dicourge the oc. And that's my intention.

There are three, good pro-OC instructors I am familiar with:

Skip Coryell
Midwest Tactical Training
http://www.mwtac.com/

Rick Ector
Rick's Firearm Academy of Detroit
http://www.detroitccw.com/
http://www.legallyarmedindetroit.com/

And MOC's own Randy Davis (Onnie)
I don't know if Randy has a website or not, but you can PM him here: http://forums.michiganopencarry.org/index.php?action=profile;u=383

These guys all know the law--accurately!--and, as I said, are pro-OC.  In fact, both Skip and Rick spoke at the Second Amendment March in Lansing a few days ago.  Skip is the Second Amendment March founder.

I think MOC member attorney SteveS teaches CPL classes sometimes.  He's in the Lansing area. PM him at: http://forums.michiganopencarry.org/index.php?action=profile;u=1293

Sometimes MOC holds CPL classes as well, often as a fundraiser, but I don't think we have any currently scheduled.
