Power outage. Very localized. Probably only a few block area. No storm, no wind. Last time this happened it was a truck hitting a power pole. This time no local sirens so I figure a transformer just blew. I heard the alarm clock beep as power went down but I went back to sleep. Unfortunately my wife hobbled into the room and woke me up exclaiming that the problem is in the basement. She "heard" a loud bang and insisted I go check. I rolled over and covered my head with a pillow but she wouldn't let up..... "Something is wrong and the house is going to catch fire!' Sigh.
Of course there was nothing wrong in the basement but when I got back to the top of the stairs she had me locked in! I felt like a Christian in 2nd century Rome! She fed me to the lions at the first sign of trouble! "Save the women and children! Sacrifice your husbands!"
