He is withdrawing his proposal to amend the 2015 national defense authorization bill to allow our military personnel to OC on base on assurances it will be brought up during House-Senate bill reconciliation. Right.
Of course, astronaut and Navy Capt. Mark Kelly, Gabbby Giffords’ husband, came out strongly against the proposal to allow base carry saying it undercuts the military.
There are many--including Gohmert, apparently--who think our military personnel aren't qualified because Gohmert's bill would have required military members to be retrained in gun safety, and pass a background check and a psychological evaluation before being allowed to touch a gun "unsupervised."
If we have people in our military who aren’t already trained in gun safety, can’t pass a background check, and are unstable, then why are those people in our military?!
