The wife
« on: July 17, 2014, 01:32:19 PM »
My wife doesn't carry a gun, but likes that I do.  We've talked for a while about her learning to shoot and getting one, but I've been remiss about teaching her, and because I travel a lot out of town just have yet to take her to the range.  I did buy her this for her birthday last year (or was it two years ago?!)

A couple of weeks ago she called me up when I was in Kansas City and said, "I signed up for a CPL class!"  She's begun watching the DVDs and remarked that "there's a lot of good info in them!"  We went to the range for the first time last Sunday afternoon.  She wanted to go again last night, so we did.  Just got a text from her that she wants to go again tonight.  That's three times in one week, all at her urging.

 :woohoo:

She's has shot all of my pistols--.40 S&W and .45 ACP--but she likes my Five-seveN the best.  She's petite and doesn't have as much grip strength as she should have (for some reason) and she has some difficulty racking some of my guns.  But I think something like the M&P 9mm with a weaker recoil spring and aggressive slide serrations would make that easier for her, so that's what I'm looking at.  The interchangeable grip panels are also a plus.  My son has an M&P .40 and I like it.

That would be a good firearm choice indeed.

I have issues with purse carry though (that picture).  It's the first thing grabbed, then your gun is gone and lets face it, the majority of women are not as strong as the majority of men and will not win the control for the purse struggle.  Then your purse is gone, and your gun is gone.

I know women like tight clothing but on the body is their best bet for carrying still.

smith and Wesson shield is a good one for females.

i would steer clear of the five seven if you don't have lots of cash for her to get good with the gun.

My wife loves her Bersa BT380.  Nice size, she can rack the slide, not bad recoil and best of all she has a Bersa 22 that has the same form, function, and size that she loves to shoot at the range for practice.  She doesn't carry but she has her CPL ..... I wish she would carry.

There we go. I fixed it.

When she racks the slide have her assist the movement by pushing forward with her strong arm.
