Cyclist shoots girlfriend in Inkster, chased away by CPL holder

Police say the pair were riding the bicycles together when they got into an argument and he allegedly just retaliated by shooting her in the head.

We're told the man shot the girlfriend three times, knocking her off the bicycle.  She then apparently staggered into the parking lot of the Michgan Motel, where sources say the boyfriend got off his bicycle and delivered the fourth and fatal shot to his girlfriend's head.

This scene was unfolding as a driver was waiting at a light nearby. Family members say the 25-year-old man from Westland with a Concealed Pistol License and his passenger, a young Marine, reacted to the shooting of the woman and tried to stop it.

But, before they could, the boyfriend started shooting at them.

Police sources say the Westland man fired three shots at the suspect, but none hit the man.

The boyfriend took off and was later caught by police.

Only if said range offers live fire returned by a human intent on not being captured!

I have said many times - the range is better than nothing, just barely. The type of shooting taught their is often useless in a street gun fight, many of which take place within arms length of the attacker. Barely time to draw let alone shoot with both arms extended, etc...

Glad that the good guys survived and that the dirt bag got caught.

Or if the range time adds up to a substantial quantity, like an average of 50 rounds a day or 18,000 rounds in the last 12 months. Anybody who shoots that much should be able to hit what they're aiming at under any circumstances short of being wounded.

18k ... That is some serious paper punching.

I used to do 10-15k a year when that represented about $100 worth of .177 pellets.
It's still affordable in pellets, but I wouldn't want to pay for it in reloading supplies for .45ACP at today's prices. I don't even want to think about what it would cost to buy 10k bullets for a rifle, not to mention rifles use a lot more powder.
