Not sure if I believe the Lt. Governor.  We'll see.

+++++

There are not enough votes in the Texas Senate to pass legislation allowing Texans to openly carry handguns, Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick said Tuesday.

Gun Debate Turns Wild in First 2 Weeks of Texas Legislature

What many thought was a slam-dunk in the Republican-controlled Legislature -- allowing the open carry of handguns in Texas -- turned into a tempest in the opening weeks of the session. And its chances of passing seemed to further diminish when one of the state's most outspoken conservatives flip-flopped on whether it's even a priority issue.

"(Open carry) has been pushed off the rails by the nut jobs," said Jerry Patterson, a former Marine, gun enthusiast and open-carry advocate who wrote the state's concealed handgun license law as a state lawmaker in the early 1990s.

I hear from friends on another forum that 3 Texas pro gun bills should be coming to a vote this week.

Texas Open Carry
Well, from what i am reading the Texas senate will vote on all three bills this coming week. Open carry, constitutional carry and campus carry. We have been anxiously waiting for this vote and I hope my info is correct that the vote will be this week...

Here is the only link he posted on campus carry.

Today the senate approved a bill that would fine local governments for posting “no guns” signs on public building where firearms should be legal. “The proposal would impose fines of up to $1,500 for a first offense and $10,000 maximum for repeat violations.”
