Capitol likely to remain open to guns

"Phillip Hofmeister, president and legislative director of the group Michigan Open Carry, said firearms make the statehouse safer. Bad guys would simply ignore a gun ban anyway, he said, and lawful gun-carriers deter those bad guys."

Why did the paper write the story?  There is no push by the legislature to close the capitol off to guns.  Sounds like someone is just trying to gin up trouble.

I agree, that is most likely. Though it is possible the ban in Washington or the events in Texas might have something to do with it.
