Tom Lambert, vice president of Michigan Open Carry Inc., said he was happy that Andy Schor's amendment failed on the floor Tuesday and was "insulted" by the "loophole" terminology.

"Just because people don't like something doesn't mean they can apply the term loophole. The law is very clear," Lambert said.

"I think we've proven over the last couple of years that open carry in these specific areas is not a problem," Lambert said. "It happens every single day. It happens in schools, although I would concede that schools are the most sensitive. It's not a big issue."

Update: House GOP spokesperson Gideon D'Assandro responded to an MLive inquiry about the Democrats' proposed amendments with the following statement:

"The bills we took up today were about eliminating duplicate government bureaucracies and cutting through red tape for responsible gun owners. The amendments would have done the exact opposite, which means they weren't even really appropriate to the point of the bills."

Pure posturing.  Someone got to put a feather in their cap.
When a strong man, fully armed, guards his own palace, his goods are in peace. Luke 11:21

Then He said to them, “But now, he who has a money bag, let him take it, and likewise a knapsack; and he who has no sword, let him sell his garment and buy one."  Luke 22:36
