OC bill was amended to require retention training in the CHL class.  Some tried to tack on other amendments but most failed.

Texas sounds worse than Michigan.  Arguments/amendments proposed but defeated were:

1. The Sheriffs of old Hollywood movies used to make everyone entering town turn in their guns, so they should, too.

2. The State Capitol must be excluded from open carrying because there are children there all the time on school trips, and there’s emotionally disturbed constituents out there who come to their offices and rant and rave all the time, so one of those deranged constituents could grab an open-carrier’s firearm and start shooting children

3.  Required annual background checks

4. Close the “gun show loophole”

5. Allowing cities and municipalities to “opt out”

6. Requiring cities and municipalities to “opt in”

There were six hours of debate.
