Wrong burger orders lead to shot being fired at Grand Rapids McDonald's

GRAND RAPIDS, MI — After receiving a series of incorrect burger orders, police say a 29-year-old Grand Rapids woman became verbally abusive and fired one pistol round into a McDonald's.

The altercation took place around 3 a.m. Monday, Feb. 10, at the McDonald's in the 400 block of 28th Street SE, according to Lt. John Bylsma.

On Sunday evening, two women arrived at the restaurant's drive-through window and placed an order for a burger. After discovering the order was incorrect, the women reportedly became upset and complained about the mistake. The women were told they would receive a free meal at the time of their next visit and left the establishment.

Hours later, Bylsma said the women returned to the same McDonald's location, placed the same order, and again received an incorrectly prepared burger.

This time, the passenger began a verbal confrontation with the employee and exited the vehicle to yell and shoot one pistol round into the window of the restaurant. No one was injured as a result.

Following the shooting, the passenger reentered the vehicle and fled with the driver.

However, the women had left a phone number at the restaurant at the time of the first incorrect burger so they could be contacted about the mistake and the promised free meal. Lt. Bylsma said this aided Grand Rapids Police in locating the women and taking them into custody.

The passenger was arrested and is expected to be arraigned for two charges: carrying a concealed weapon without a permit and discharge of a loaded weapon into an occupied building. The driver was interviewed and released. Names are being withheld pending arraignment this afternoon.

Shaneka did this.  She was angry because she didn't get bacon on her sandwich.

The passenger in the car, identified as 29-year-old Shaneka Monique Torres, then became verbally abusive and allegedly fired a pistol shot into the window of the McDonald's.

The suspects were tracked down because they had left their phone number at the restaurant during their initial visit.

Torres will reportedly face felony charges including carrying a concealed weapon without a permit and firing a concealed weapon. The driver of the vehicle was released.

Heartwell is going to spin this to fit his agenda instead of using logic and reason to protect the citizens of Grand Rapids.

And, reading the comments is the best part!  :D

Let him. I've repeatedly criticized him for not caring about the facts. Another instance will only further my point.

'Now wait just a minute Mayor Heartwell. Why are you trying to use this one incident to disparage all gun owners? Is your argument so weak that you must use an example of someone who clearly has no respect for our system, let alone your gun control laws, to cast all law abiding gun owners in a bad light? If I were to follow your example, I would suggest that you should not be trusted due to the actions of a now former MAIG member who tried to force someone to have sex a gun point. Of course it would be absurd for me to do so, just as what you are currently doing is absurd. I once again admonish you for stooping to such classless tactics.'

So what law would the his honor propose that would make it safe for McDonald's employees in GRR?

Exactly.  Besides, Shaneka already had a bench warrant out for her from a previous incident.

Grand Rapids has the authority to regulate the discharge of firearms. The mayor should push for strict laws against pointing a gun at an occupied building and discharging it.

Get on that right away Mayor Hartwell!!!

Shaneka Torres is not lovin’ it when it comes to her sentence: several years in prison plus a ban from going to McDonald’s.

It took 14 months but she finally had her day in court and was convicted.

Two demographic groups seem to be overrepresented when it comes to publicized acts of "drive-in rage violence".

Guess which two groups I'm thinking of?

Black women and certified LEOs.
