Home made shotgun?
« on: April 27, 2015, 06:17:18 PM »
I recently stumbled across a youtube video of a homemade shotgun made of pipes. I thought what a neat idea and a fun project. Then I thought is this even legal in Michigan? Does anybody know of the legalities of making your own gun just for fun?

No law against making your own gun.

If you make a pistol in MI, you must register it, though.

Too bad there's less legislative interest in doing away with registration of law abiding gun owners than there is in exempting Lon Horiuchi from pistol free zones.

I'm kicking myself over not thinking of naming Jones' bill the Special Rights for Horiuchi Act until this past weekend. It's a little late now.

Question: Why doesn't recoil seem to be an issue with zip guns?

Thanks for fixing that youtube, Dan.
Interesting concept. A single shot shotgun, that you can instantly disassemble and use the barrel as a tonfa for last ditch self defense.

20 years ago when an Indonesian chap was asking me for ideas on how to stop the thugs from breaking into his house and raping his sister, I would have loved to have some zip gun plans to give him, if and only if I knew where he could buy shotgun shells.
