SWATing comes to Lansing

Read in the LSJ tonight that there have been two SWATing calls here in the last week, one to Lansing PD and one in Ionia County.  One said shots fired in the home, and the other supposedly by the "shooter" who said that he had already killed three people and was going after a fourth.  Both calls were hoaxes and one was related to an online gaming forum.

Maybe, just maybe, PDs will start treating phone calls like the 'boy who cried wolf' and stop deploying paramilitary forces into people's homes on the basis of unsubstantiated phone calls?
