Texas Open Carry (TOC) goes live with website
« on: June 20, 2015, 12:17:59 AM »
Just an FYI that Texas Open Carry (TOC), at www.texasopencarry.org has gone live with it's website.  TOC trying to create the MOC of Texas with similar goals and purpose, including fostering good will towards all law enforcement groups - in contrast to Open Carry Texas and others who have constant run-ins with police. Governor Abbott recently signed legislation into law on June 13, 2015, that will allow Open Carry of handguns beginning January 1, 2016 (license is required).

Thanks Gryphon!

And yes, good news The Q!  Your dad will be able to OC in Texas as the Michigan license is recognized in Texas.  See the official reciprocity agreement here, from Texas to Michigan:  http://www.txdps.state.tx.us/rsd/chl/legal/reciprocity/Michiganrecip.pdf   The new law allowing OC (which takes effect January 1, 2016) only requires a valid concealed carry permit from any state recognized by Texas.  So Michiganders are good for OCing here with their valid CPL.
