cpl class and officer parker

A short list of what officer parker taught me today.

1. Open carry is legal, don't ever do it.

2. " the majority of open carriers are *****holes"

3. Open carry without cpl is illegal at great lakes crossing.

4. You can conceal carry in all movie theaters in Michigan. The 2500 seating capacity rule does not apply to theaters, because each individual theater should be thought of as a box. Does the box contain more than 2500 prople? Stadium's should be considered a big box capable of seating more than 2500 people.

5. Applebee's should be considered, two seperate boxes. The seating around the bar is a box that you can't conceal in. Booth seating is a box that you can carry in.

6. Businesses that post no guns signs, can be ignored while you are concealed carrying.

7. You must be 21 to own a handgun.

8. He has a right to I.d. open carriers for no other reason than they are open carrying.

These were just a few things that I learned.

I assume you already know every point you just listed is false.

LEO's are notoriously poorly informed and/or have been known to flat out lie about gun law.

Did he do the legal portion himself?

If so your certificate may not be valid for the requirements of a CPL in MI.
I also believe it may in fact be a crime beyond ripping you off, for him to issue such a certificate for a class not meeting the requirements.

I also believe the NRA should hear about this as they should not tolerate instructors like this.

One of the other instructors will probably chime in on this as I think it actually gets worse but I do not recall all the details.

I happen to mention Michigan open carry. He admitted he had been sued by MOC or a member of MOC, he didn't give any details and it was half under his breath.
