Good. If their "agents" aren't part of a federal law enforcement agency, we can just ignore them and they can't do anything to us, right?

impersonating a federal officer is a felon and doing so with arms would be a FOL event. IANAL but some one just put a rather nasty picture on the forehead of all of their "not agency therefore not federal" employee staffs head. Not a place where I would want to be as that creates a very hostile working environment (I can think more than a few local law enforcement who might take this as way to get them out of their area even).

Uhh...
Like all federal agencies, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) generally is required under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) to disclose records requested in writing by any person.
