Judge Dismisses Lawsuit Challenging University of Michigan Policy That Bans Guns from Campus

Joshua Wade sued the university in June, saying the ban was unconstitutional and violated state law after he was not allowed a waiver to carry a gun on the Ann Arbor campus.
The university only allows military and law enforcement to carry weapons on campus.
Wade's lawyer, Steven Dulan, said he plans to appeal.

"It boils down to how independent is the Board of Regents of the University of Michigan, what's the scope of their power."
He argued the university is a "quasi-municipal government," but Stephens disagreed, writing the court "is not free to add words to an unambiguous statute."
