Momentum is gaining fast for lawful open carry in Florida, and some LEOs don't like it.  This one in particular. (Ignore sensational headline).

The Chiefs' Association supports it, as long as they're allowed to rewrite it with four amendments to make it cop friendly.

They don't want cops to get in trouble for messing with OCers, and they especially don't like the fact that the current bill overrides Qualified Immunity when they illegally detain OCers.

What, fine a cop money, out of his own personal pocket, just because he breaks a law? The Horror, The Horror!

Another article on the Pinellas sheriff's dislike of OC. This clown reminds me of the former police chief of Milwaukee and his declaration that his troops will prone you out.

Clearwater police Chief Daniel Slaughter is also a part of the Pinellas Police Standards Council, which doesn’t support the potential of an open carry law.

“I think with all rights come responsibility and I think this is one of those particular interests. I don’t even allow my law enforcement officers with my own department off-duty to carry their guns openly,” Slaughter said.

Friday the group of 13 different law enforcement agencies in the county spoke out against a bill that could allow gun owners to carry their guns out in the open for everyone to see.

Snip...................

Why would he allow his officers to carry openly while ON duty?
