Switchblades are legal as of today in Michigan

Not really OC related but though some would benefit from the info

For those who haven't heard Senate Bill 245 eliminates current law prohibiting sale and possession of spring-assisted knives, also known as switchblades. The law becomes active today. So break out your switchblades :)

DAOTF (Double Action Out The Front) knives also become legal as long as they are not double bladed. Single bladed butterfly knives are also legal. Double bladed knives, Dirks, stilettos and daggers are still illegal and are a no go.

I guess I never understood why double bladed knives were outlawed. Are they more deadly than single bladed knives? What's the rationale?

Not sure but I think the double blade is more of a weapon and less of a tool?

Think of it as an "assault knife ban."

But the same laws on concealed carry still apply.
This was just a relaxation of the ban on ownership of knives that a lot of LEOs already owned.

That's nuts that they were outlawed to begin with.  I seriously doubt the law was based on any actual facts, just fear.
